According to a new chart from Barclays Mortgages, Plymouth has shown a significant increase in the amount of landlords buying to let in the city this year, compared to last year.
In 2014, Plymouth was 212th in the league table, but has now risen to 16th in the chart created from analysis of Barclays customers who purchased properties in the area.
London holds the top spot as it did in 2014, with Birmingham rising to number 2 from 7. Bristol stays in third place ahead of Nottingham Manchester and Reading.
Of the top 20, Plymouth shows the most significant increase, jumping almost 200 places.
Buy-to-let has seen a steep growth in the last 18 months, with the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee noting that the number of buy-to-let products where the loads were more than 80% of the value of the property has risen by half in 18 months.
